Materials for laser welding/Laser advantages

One of the basic advantage of laser technology is the ability to weld an enormously wide range of materials. In many cases one can weld without using filler material, however there also exists a range of applications, where additional filler material is recommended.

For the jewelry alloys, wires in diameter 0.25 mm up to about 0.5 mm are needed, made out of the same alloy as the welding sample. They are used to refill voids and/or reinforce joints as well as building up prongs also. For silver, a solder wire with a high (app. 750°C) melting point is recommended. For welds of Titanium, only Titanium filler material is suitable. CoCr alloys might need a filler material without carbon content.

Performance
The bestselling manual laser welding unit worldwide! More than 4,000 customers use this system for fine-welding stainless steel, titanium, gold or platinum. With this tool they create seam welds under 100 microns and work with materials as thin as 10 microns or wires of 20 microns in diameter. Learning to operate this system is a matter of hours.

Select
The Select is a fully integrated system: ergonomically optimized manual welding laser, joystick controlled deposit welding system or high-precision CNC system – a unique welding concept with four high-precision axes, short setup times and easy CNC programming.

Desktop
The Desktop is the smallest and most cost-efficient model of the successful manual welding series. A compact, low-cost and multi-purpose manual welding laser. The laser achieves excellent results in the precise welding of electronic components, in precision mechanics as well as in the design and repair work of jewelry and also in the production and repair of crowns and bridges in dental industry.

StarWeld 20/40/90
The new StarWeld 20/40/90 has a compact enclosure that can be conveniently installed under a desk. The StarWeld 20/40/90 produces high-quality and consistent spot and seam welds on metals and alloys, including precious metals, even under difficult process conditions, due to the individually adjustable pulse shapes. It is the ideal system for the electronics, electro-mechanical, opto-electronics, sensor, medical device and jewelry industries.
