Laser cutting of woodDieboards

One example of a laser cutting application in non-metallic material should be mentioned here: the cutting of wood for use as dieboards. For this application CO2 lasers are used, because the beams of other types of laser are not absorbed by wood. It is the flexibility of laser cutting, coupled with the high degree of precision and quality of cut, that makes it interesting for this application. CNC bent knives are later inserted in the cuts, and are then used to cut out the desired packaging material or cartons. The typical processing speed of the laser varies between 1.5 and 4 meters per minute, depending on the thickness of the material.
