High pulse peak power and pulse energies in the lasers, with a short effective duration, allow copper to be welded. Here, too, fiber technology can be employed.

Copper is difficult to weld using traditional processes like resistance or projection-seam welding. And safe welding of heat-sensitive components became possible only with the laser, with its directed, high energy density.
