Remote Welding System - RWS
High-speed welding system
The Remote Welding System (RWS) is a high
speed welding system, which produces multiple spot welds.
The raw laser beam is expanded using a reflective mirror
beam expanding telescope and then focused with a turbo cooled
lens with a focal length of 1.6 m. In the same way scanning
optics are used in laser marking systems, a rapidly moving
galvo mirror, designed specifically for high-power CO2 lasers,
moves the beam in the X and Y axis. By moving the scanner
mirror in the Y axis, the working area can be increased in
that direction.
2D and 2 ½D Laser Welding
Thanks to the negligible non-productive transit times, the
RWS sets new standards for the high speed welding. Movements
between weld spots or stitches, defined as a "rapid
move", can be done at speeds in excess of 2 m/sec.
When compared to conventional resistance spot welding up
to 10 times more weld joints can be created in a given
period. A virtually unlimited variety of welding contours,
such as spots, stitches, circles, crossed lines or wavy
lines are easily programmable.
Highest Availability
These lasers are capable of about 20 million welding cycles
for more than 300 km of weld length, with-out the exchange
of typical wear parts. The system sets a benchmark for
availability and process op-timization when compared to
conventional methods with mechanical axle drives and multi
spot welding grippers. The system is equipped with the
well established CO2 lasers of the DC Series from ROFIN.
The excellent beam quality of these units makes welding
over such long focal distances possible. The robust technology
and the low gas consumption make these lasers a perfect
and reliable tool for re-mote welding.
RWS
RELIABLE – MORE FLEXIBLE – FASTER
Flexible
Material thickness of 1 to 5 mm can be welded without
any hardware exchange.
Fast
Up to 200 welds per minute are possible.
Unlimited Weld Geometries
Due to free programming every required weld form
can be realised.
Compact
The laser is positioned above the working area creating
a compact system with the smallest possible footprint.
Maximum Potential
The same system can laser mark the welded parts,
providing the opportunity to eliminate additional
work stations.
Mature Laser Technology
The RWS runs with well established, low-maintenance
CO2 Slab
Laser with 3-6 kW output power.
